Association of Indian Universities

AIU has been mandated by the Department of School Education, Ministry of Education, GoI to accord equivalence to the Indian Boards for the Secondary/Senior Secondary Examination. The Gazette Notification No. CG-DL-W-20112021-231254 dated 15th November. 2021 and Letter No. F.11-3/2016-Sch.3 dated 15th November, 2021 from Ministry of Education, GoI. This will help in addressing the difficulties being faced by the students in respect of equivalence of certificates issued by the School Education Boards in India for the purposes of admissions in higher education institutions and employment in Central/State Government. The equivalence granted by AIU will be automatically considered as inter-se parity between the Boards in India, permitting smooth Inter-School Education Board migrations, and shall be valid at all India level for the purpose of higher education and employment.

In accordance with the gazette notification, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was prepared by AIU. The SOP has been approved by Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India vide letter No.F.11-3/2016-Sch.3 dated 15th July, 2022. The equivalence to the Certification of Indian School Boards shall be given as per the approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

The list of existing recognized School Boards in States and UTs considered as having deemed equivalence will be available on the Ministry of Education website https://dsel.education.gov.in. Such Boards need not to apply for equivalence to AIU.
